Understanding the way and why we move
Utilizing large data, we can empower informed decision making
Growing up in Indiana, I saw the effects of environmental injustice and poor mobility options. From a lack of adequate public transit to hostile pedestrian environments, infrastructure and service provision have a profound effect on people’s economic opportunity. By providing quality transportation options for people of all ages and abilities, we have the chance to open the door to economic opportunity for vulnerable members of our community.
My professional experience includes supporting the Divvy bikeshare system citywide expansion in Chicago, designing a permanent e-scooter program policy in Milwaukee, transportation demand management during construction on the Lincoln Tunnel in NYC, and Northwestern University’s Active Transportation Plan, among others. I specialize in the benefits of micromobility sustainability as related to economic development, with regard to institutional goals. However, I also have experience in transit and traditional bike/ped planning.
During my work, I have analyzed and manipulated large datasets, such as:
Vehicle-level ridership data for the Divvy bikeshare system in Chicago utilizing Python to determine where companion lightweight stations would be appropriate
Student-generated data for the Northwestern University Active Transportation Plan using an application I configured that allowed them to audit bicycle parking and upload the data remotely to the cloud
Milwaukee e-scooter pilot program vehicle data using third-party vendor data reporting and analysis tools
Multiple automotive crash datasets for various Vision Zero plans using Python and geopandas
